John McHughes
John McHughes was born and raised in North York. He received her Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Law and Justice with a minor in Mathematics from Laurentian University and his Juris Doctor Degree from Lakehead University in the inaugural class of the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law. John is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, having been called to the Bar in 2017. John practices in the areas of insurance law and civil litigation.
John’s practice is focused on contractual and commercial disputes and civil liability across a wide range of industries. He has developed extensive experience in mandates related to manufacturers' and product liability, including automotive, chemical products and consumer goods, as well as in matters relating to professional liability. John also acts in the context of expropriation proceedings. John has intervened on several occasions in order to enforce letters of request, as well as to obtain access to documents, evidence and assets in the context of legal proceedings initiated abroad. He regularly represents his clients before various civil and administrative courts. He also advises his clients with respect to litigation prevention and the reviewing of contract documents.
